The Jewel of Newbury is certainly a unique experience but it is not one i would care to have again. The service was terrible, while the food was overpriced.
For us, the fact that the owner disallowed us to have the dishes we had ordered and insisted on choosing our wine left little to be desired.I believe we were part of the most bizare and undesirable dining situation ever experienced!Having complained that we were unhappy with our food we then endured a lengthy lecture from the owner on how we did not know'good food' or 'wine' etc etc...a lecture which was so loud that other customers promptly evacuated the restaurant in effort to escape.Unless you want a stressful dining experince that leaves you wanting to not only leave the restaurant but actually leave the city of Boston, i suggest you steer well away from The Jewel of Newbury.
