bad experience

I went to J.W. for enjoying good German food in an atmosphere you will find in lots of little restaurants in Germany. Unfortunately there was no nice atmosphere. It feels more like in a food court - it was loud - it has just one big room which was arranged without love. Most dissappointing was the food. German dishes were rare on the menu and Sauerbraten was out this day. Instead I had a plate with German sausages and german potato salad. I got sausages and potato salad I never ate in Germany before. This had nothing to do with original German food. My wife had a Schnitzel which was cold and was rewarmed for her when we complained. For a German restauarant you would also expect German beer on the menu. They have very few german beers. Most of the beers are local. If you want to enjoy German food definetely choose another place.

First impressions seem OK, but the food is truly a disappointment for anybody, German or otherwise, who has actually experienced real German food. Today there are much better choices of eating establishments in the direct vicinity.

german type food

We visited this restaurant three different times. Being german myself I wanted my family to experience good german food but was sorely dissappointed. Just putting some bratwurst and knackwurst (no, it's not knockwurst-'knack' meaning snappy) on a plate with red cabbage (preparation also very disappointing) does not make a german dish. I understand that the restaurant is not in german hands (or a german chef) anymore but they could try harder or hire someone who actually knowns german food!
