small portions, but good food, poor service
By matthew
Went for a night out in the North End to this establishment at the request of my female companion. We were seated right away in the middle of the room upstairs. It was a pleasant environment, and after a few minutes, our server came over to fill out water glasses and tell us the specials- so far, so good, but it went downhill quickly, or rather, i should say it fell off a cliff quickly. Our waiter returned after about 15 minutes to take our drink and meal orders. It was a full 20 minutes further before our two glasses of wine were poured and brought over. He neglected to bring a basket of bread (which were obviously present, and being re-filled at other tables by the other staff), and we had to request one from a fellow waiter after another 5-10 minutes or so. (he brought one over straight away). Needless to say, we were quite disturbed by the lack of hospitality that one would think would be attached to a $25-$30+ plate. Our waiter did, however proceed to unfold and place our napkins in our laps, but i found the motion to be a bit on the insulting side for him to be concerned with minute gestures when there were obviously much larger gaps in his performance. Finally, our food arrived. Though the dishes (pan seared tuna, grilled trout) were pitifully small for the price, they were quite good. Our waiter failed to ask about our meals until it was time for the plates to be cleared. Thankfully, he did not inquire about dessert, as we were anxious to leave this frustrating meal behind. It was about another 10 minutes that went by before he inquired about our check. We paid and left- never to come back.
