Waste of time and money!

We were just looking for an apartment in Boston for this fall (2004) and had to look online because we are relocating and could not travel there to look in person. I was offered a special price to be a member of ApartmentSource.com and thought that would be helpful. Not. I will not go through all their shortcoming, I will just focus on the big ones.
First of all, their search areas do not allow you to look in specific neighborhoods (you cannot be any more specific than "Boston"), so you have to go through lots of listings and check the address in a map to find whether the apartment is in a location where you could or would want to live, so it is very time consuming to look for specific locations.
Secondly, the information they have about the apartments is less than minimal, most have no pictures at all, or if they do it's only one.
Finally, they have a lot of listings that do not specify when they are available, you need to call the landlord. I found that many of these are old listings (back to 2002), so after you finally think you have a few candidates it turns out that many of them are useless.
Of course, customer service apologized. They offered to extend our membership (what for?) but did not offer a refund. We finally found an apartment contacting real state agencies that have rental listings and working personally with them, we even found a no-fee apartment and the personal attention is so helpful when you cannot go there and do it yourself!
