John Eliot, Missionary to the American Indians
An Anglican minister, Eliot traveled throughout eastern Massachusetts in the mid-1600s, setting up a series of "Praying Indian" communities. He also printed the first Bible in North America - in the Natick Indian language.

Thank you. You might mention he was graduated from Jesus College, Cambridge with a degree in linguistics, which makes his interest in the Alonquin language more understandable.
And perhaps a word or two about his belief these Native peoles were part of the Lost Tribes of Israel.
Perhaps another piece of data....the Society for the Propagation of the Bible in New England sent over a press and pressman to print the Bible in 1661, 1663, 1685. I believe thee are 5 extant copies of Up Biblum God. I've seen one in the Huntington Library.
