Anybody who doesn't think there's a ruling class didn't hear the afternoon traffic reports on Monday. Rte. 128 southbound was backed up for 31 MILES. Why? The state police shut down parts of 128, the turnpike and then 495 IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON RUSH HOUR so Dick Cheney could drive to Hopkinton. And why was it so important for him to get to Hopkinton during rush hour? Was he going to announce emergency flood-relief funds? Reveal what happened to the weapons of mass destruction? No. He was driven to Hopkinton for a political fundraiser at pal Dick Egan's. Hundreds, maybe thousands of people were seriously inconvenienced for a political fundraiser. It's just not right (in case you were wondering, I heard a traffic report before I got on the turnpike, so I took Rte. 9 home, so, no, I didn't get stuck in the mess).

Maybe because he's the vice-president and we're not?
It Really just goes to show the audasicity of this government. To hold up these major artieries so Dickie could get to a fundrasier is a serious abuse of power. Then again the question remains 'how in hell did he get to that postion in the first place?' BEING RICH! I'D SAY!!!

I'm surprised he didn't come in by helicopter.
Too easy a target.
This sadly is the self-demeaning attitude of so many citizens. As vice-president he is the servant of the people - not an overlord.
Raised $1 million for the party, not too shabby for a 15 minute speech.

I hope he had lots and lots of cholesterol.
I'm sure he is just fine.
This is a situation that needs to be addressed. We have come to this point, that president vice-president, all the way down are our leaders. They are not but servants to us. Why does so many bow to there way? It only promotes self- esteem to those chosen few. Time for the power to be given back to the people. Our system is being serverly abused. Have we lost our grip?
Jane Swift probably advised him against that.
What do tou expect from a republican? Hey wait a minute! are you sure that this is'nt some form of cover up for George W"s daughter being in another drunken episode? Come to think of it, Clinton tied up an entire airport in Ca. while he got a 45 minute hair cut. In my oponion they all SUCK!

I agree with this completely. Unfortunately though, there are a lot of whackjobs out there, and so I can understand the need for security. It would be my guess though that if our country were run by people who truly ARE representative of our population and who are truly serving the people, instead of people who come from a long line of money and have not much else to boot, there would be a lot less whackjob activity aimed at them. I mean, imagine a president who'd actually worked his/her way up the ranks as a civil servant, maybe working as a teacher or a nurse or a police officer, and then up into administrative roles in human services, then onto leading the country. There are a lot of such people in our communities who are regarded basically universally as humanitarians and leaders, and you never hear of anyone who disagrees with the work they do, because they're working solely to better the lives of people in their communities. These people are huge influences in their communities, yet you never hear of any assassination attempts on these civil servants. If these folks were leading our country, they would likely have the whole nation as their security force. Yet you rarely have true civil servants in politics; you have mostly career politicians. Personally, my theory is that much of this stems from the strong partisan system we have. There's no reason to have political parties. I mean, in other places in the community where people are interested in what's going on, politics don't enter into the picture in the same way. How many of us know the party affiliation of our doctor, our child's principal, or the cop on the corner? Most of us don't, and most of us don't care. We care about the quality of the work these people do, and their work is bettering the lives of people in our community. So why can't these same breed of people run the country in lieu of politicians? Yeah, I know, take it to the politics forum. But Adam started it!

I didn't hear any body complaining When Bill Clinton tied Downtown Boston during rush hour going to a fundraiser. Trust in God and sin not.Don't blame me I'm like Sparky I voted for Sarah to.

Well, Adam didn't post it on here, that's why! Had I known about it, I'd complain. In fact, I hearby enter a posthumous complaint: ARG!
I did get stuck in the mess returning from Springfield around 3:00. I managed to get off in Randolph because I was running out of gas. Made it back to Quincy thru the back roads. It was not fun for my 4-yr. old when we no longer had the nice breeze we were enjoying and of course, my air-cond. is broke. But, patience is a virtue.
Doesn't he work for us??????

Bill Clinton was in Arizona once and the Secret Service wouldn't let an amublance go down a long two-lane street until the President passed by. The patient in the ambulance didn't get to the hospital in time and died.

I did! Logan was shut down and friends were stuck on the tarmac in PA for hours and the excuse was bad weather!
"Too easy a target."..... For what? Please elaborate as you usually do Frankie.
For rightly irate citizens (perhaps those without a working a/c ), to aim a friendly rocket grenade from their open car window at the offending and offensive vice-president.

Geez, and here I am at work, once again having forgotten to load the rocket grenade launcher in the car! If I were in the Secret Service (and all of you may now utter "and thank God he's not"), I'd be a lot more concerned about people on grassy knolls by the side of the road than motorists. In any case, if security is a concern, and he just HAS to get to Hopkinton at rush hour, let the RNC pay for a helicopter.
Actually, from the inference given, I'd be content to have you as point man on the President's Secret Service detail.

What's the big deal it's nothing new. He is the vice-President, Clinton did it, and hey they all do it. What bothers me more than that is, where you ever traveling toward a bridge and just as you get there, there's an opening. So you stop, the bridge goes up and about twenty minutes later here comes a guy in a twenty-five foot boat with a sixty-foot antenna on it. And the traffic is backed up ten miles. Now that's unnecessary. I would love to hang off the bridge and cut that antenna off with a chain saw as he passes. As far as Chaney goes if you're a democrat, it's an outrage and if you’re a republican it's nothing. *As the world turns. *
