BOSTON—The Boston Red Sox, who have failed to win a single World Series since the departure of relief pitcher Curtis Leskanic in 2004, are attempting to defy the odds and do the impossible: reverse the curse of the journeyman reliever whose ghost has haunted this team since the mid-2000s [..]

Note to self: At least make an effort to stay awake for remaining games, otherwise you'll have weird dreams involving Hank Hill pitching for the Rockies, because "King of the Hill" when you finally wake up at 2AM. *~*~*~* Luceo non uro

I fell asleep with the tv on too - I was dreaming about a one-armed man who robbed a bank, but really it was one armed man, one guy with a gun.

And here I was thinking it was the curse of Doug Minkiewicz--the journeyman first baseman who klepto-d the ball after the final out of the 2004 Series. Did anyone notice that Varitek pocketed the ball this time, as he should, he's the Team Captain. And re Fox: how about the newscast after the win last night. They had a fascinating split screen going. The screen on the left showed interviews with team personnel in front of the dugout at Coors Field. The screen on the left showed helicopter footage of policeman beating the crap out of people on Boylston street. Now that's hard-hitting coverage. ------------------------- Life is....a Simpsons episode

I heard helicopters and sirens all night, which made one of the cats think they were purring at her and frightened the others, and I kept dreaming that there were other teams still playing, so we couldn't be entirely sure of the championship yet. I think fried green beans do something to my brain chemistry. *~*~*~* Luceo non uro

channels 4, 5, 7... had that too..with better shots of Boston (the reporters were on the street, sometimes dodging water bottles being thrown at the police horses)& different interviews than Fox had.

And here I thought Fox leaned rightward. Sigs are overrated.

At some point last night, weren't they speculating about whether Timlin would come back to pitch in the next inning .... after Kielty had already pinch-run for Timlin? Glad I don't have to watch Fox Sports again this year. (or do they do NFL playoffs, too?)

Wasn't it great how during Fox's postgame interview with Theo, the fans in the stands were chanting (LOUDLY): "DON'T SIGN A-ROD" (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap) ------------------------- Life is....a Simpsons episode

Cool...but weren't most of the folks in the stands Rockies fans?

not during the POSTGAME interviews a good 30-45 minutes after the game was over. Thousands of Sox fans had gathered behind the Sox dugout as the champagne-soaked players came back out of the clubhouse to be interviewed by Butch Stearns. ------------------------- Life is....a Simpsons episode
