Moving to Boston

Hey!
I am moving to Boston from Philadelphia. I currently live in SOuth Philadelphia which is a neighborhood in Philly just south of Center City where all thehigh rises are.
My problem is that I don't know where exactly to live. I want to go somewhere safe, with a clean neighborhood, restaurants, bars, and parks that had a city feel to it and close to public transportation as I do not own a car. I do not want to be in the suburbs or in residential developments.
Please help!
