Sounds like it turned out well. I would have rather witnessed this birth than enduring the disgusting b.o. emanating from three females next to us yesterday on the ride home from the Aquarium. That was gross!

The channel 4 news reported that she was a homeless person who had been living in a motel with her other 2 children. It would seem she may have some problems.Perhaps our prayers for her are more in order than the levity.the news reported thew baby was healthy.

Yeah Fred, I'm gonna have to agree with you. Being homeless and living in a motel w/ her two other children and saying it seems she has some problems is a friggin' understatement. I think she needs more than just prayers.

I suspect that this "arrest" was made purely because of racism. If she weren't black and homeless, They wouldn't even arrest her and let her go quietly.

The whole system smells of racism. And that sucks big time.

The DSS better give that woman back her children, because I suspect that They are more likely to molest the children than she is anyway.

I suspect that if the woman had gone to a hospital to deliver her baby, or mentioned her labor to the others on the train, or had accepted the paramedic assistance shortly after the baby was born...then DSS wouldn't have gotten involved...less to do with race, than the woman's actions.

If I saw this happen, I'd call DSS:

"I saw a head, then full baby fall out from her skirt, hit the floor sideways and slide the length of the doorway, stopping when he bumped up against the next row of seats. Still she stared out the window. Either she didn't know it happened or didn't want to acknowledge it."

"After leaving the train and heading for the stairs up to the station's main lobby, witnesses said, the placenta fell to the platform. Judge turned around, grabbed the afterbirth, put it in her shoulder bag, and headed upstairs."
Globe story

I wonder what is happening with the baby today, or if his fate is still....

What the Hell are you talking about?
Did you read the same story as the rest of us? What "arrest" are you talking about? It was a bizarre event and, according to witnesses, the woman was acting in a manner that endangered the child that she just gave birth to. It is a situation that the authorities acted upon to procedure. She is probably ill, or was mentally incapacitated temporarily. I seriously doubt that race had a thing to do with it.

The Herald story says the women and her kids were living in a Super 8 in Weymouth. Is Weymouth home to all crappy welfare motels? Anyone remember a few summers ago how some scumbag running a welfare motel in Weymouth charged the people for ice?

I believe the girl who gave birth at the prom and left her baby there was a white girl, yet she got a ton of media attention. Same with the girl who gave birth at the motel.

We now have an example for public service advertisements.

Its apparent this posting was written by an idiot. This woman has a serious problem and desparately nneds help. Her race or economic status have nothing to do with it.Her actions were not thjose of a normal person.

Most problems in the world today--e.g. child neglect and abuse, famine, deforestation, and lack of resources such as food and water, to name but a few--can be traced to overpopulation, and I would like to see more family planning in this country and around the world. This means planning whether to have a family, deciding on how many children to have, gaining access to contraception, and having access to aboriton. If there were more family planning, there would be fewer families living in poverty and fewer abortions--something both sides of the argument want.

That having been said, we have no idea what this woman's situation is. She could have been raped, she could be in a mental state that has made it difficult for her to make healthy and safe choices, she could be abused by a spouse or someone on whom she relies for financial support, etc. On top of that, if she doesn't have health care coverage, she won't have access to birth control. Even if she does have coverage, she may be part of a plan that won't cover contraception (even though many such plans will cover Viagra, but that's a different rant).

We simply don't know how she came to be in such a state. What I would really like to know is how come no one in her family of circle of friends helped her before this got so out of hand?

And there you've identified another major source of problems: people living in isolation, without a circle of family or friends.

Oh yes, a simple solution.

Blame the mother as usual with nary a thought to the other half of the baby making equation. Typical.

Where is the father? HE should stop having kids. You don't know this woman's situation at all, or how the events of her life and or choices got her to this predicament.

This woman obviously has problems. She isn't some illiterate dumbell or a person of low mentality. She is a registered nurse ,who apparently has severred connections with her family for some reason anbd has not kept up with a regimen of medication ,and obviously needs all the help she can get for her sake and her childrens welfare.
