Tourist tips vs. generalized insane ranting

I've split off the bulk of the Woodman's rantfest from the Southern-visitors-seek-advice thread because, really, I'm sure our Southern visitors just want to have a good time in Boston, not spend endless hours reading about what morons we all are. Please post appropriately (i.e., feed the troll in the Woodman's thread; show how helpful Bostonians can be in the Southern-visitors thread).
